Big day for Evan

On Saturday Evan was baptized!!  He was so excited and like most had been looking forward to this for a long time.  A couple weeks ago he asked me if you start to be judged for your sins when you're baptized or when you turn eight.  It was a pretty thoughtful question I thought.  I guess he just wanted to know if he had to start being "good" right away or if he still had a couple weeks before he was responsible for his choices.

He looked so cute that day.  He and Kamri along with the other boy being baptized and his siblings sang "When I am Baptized" while Sara accompanied them.

After he came out of the water and Ben and he were in the dressing room Ben said Evan looked up at him and said a sweet little thank you.  He's such a sensitive boy and I love when these sweet moments happen.

It was a wonderful day!  We missed you Mom and Dad.  Our bishop from our old ward came to the baptism and he mentioned to me how weird it felt for him to not have my mom and dad at a family event since they are at everything.

Afterward we had everyone over for a fruit pizza bar - sugar cookies that everyone then topped with topping and any fruit they wanted.  I don't know why we haven't kept the tradition going, but growing up we always had root beer floats after our baptisms.  I thought about it but don't know why I didn't do it.

Then we just hung out afterward.....

....literally.  The kids were climbing trees.

I made Evan a baptism book to keep track of information and his thoughts and pictures of his baptism.  He was so good at making sure he filled it all out and had Ben and me write our thoughts about it in his book.  He has also decided he's old enough not to play with things during sacrament meeting and has stopped packing his "Sunday bag" and just listens to the speakers.  He's even asked me to make him a scripture journal like Sara's that she takes to church to take notes.  I guess eight-years-old is the magic age.
