Sara and Evan had their piano recital a couple weeks ago. They played a "We Three Kings of Orient Are" duet. they both worked so hard. For duets they can use their music and don't have to memorize the piece. Well, they got up there and got through the first page but when they got to the second page Evan realized he had put his music upside down. But seriously, no one could tell. Not even their teacher. I guess he didn't need the music after all. He was so prepared and new the piece well enough to get through it. I was so proud of him for a couple reasons: 1) he worked so hard and knew the song and 2) he remained calm, didn't freak out, and made it through without any problems.
Evan opted to not play a solo in addition to their duet but Sara played Away in a Manger arranged by a local pianist Marshall McDonald. She loves his music and was so excited to get to play it. What made it even better is that his daughter just started taking lessons from Bridget (Sara's and Evan's teacher) so he was there and got to see Sara perform his song. He came up to her afterward and was very complimentary and seemed to be very genuine in his compliments. It made her feel really good.
