Sara,Sara, Sara..

Saturday night we went to a family friend's home for a BBQ. Miles needed his diaper changed so Sara and I went to the back room to change it. In there they had a scale. I decided to see just how much weigh I have left to lose. I got on an when the undisclosed number came up Sara said , "Wow!!!!!!" This was the conversation on the way home: ************************** S: "Mom, you weigh a lot" M: "yep" S: "This is the goal for the week. To lose some of it." M: "Mmm, hmmmm" S: "Maybe like 2 pounds" ************************** To her credit any number over 100 probably would have seemed huge to her and we all know I'm over that. If only two pounds was all I needed to lose.

Kids Triathlon

Each year on Labor Day weekend my family participates in our own "Lombardi Cheapskate Half Marathon". The kids are always there and wanting to participate, but never get to. So this year we talked about putting together a kids' triathlon for them. Well, this Saturday that talk turned into action and we had our first Kids' Triathlon. It was so much fun and the kids all had a blast.
They were split into 3 age groups - 6 to 10 years, 3 to 5 years, and almost 2 to 2 years.
The older age groups did .5 mile bike ride, .5 mile run, and 2 laps in the pool.
The middle groups did about .2 mile bike, .2 mile run, and one lap
The youngest rode/scooted around the playground once, then ran it, then one lap.
Here are all the happy participants (plus two babies)

Older group

Sara during her bike ride
(Notice no more training wheels. This was a long time coming but she is a pro now.)

Her lap swim (wonderful aunt Trina helped her. I wasn't about to get into a swimsuit yet)
We didn't get a picture of her run and I didn't see her, but I hear she did awesome.

The middle-agers

Evan's bike ride (still working on the training wheels)

His run

For some reason the young boys in the family like princesses and pink so cousin Blake got to use Kamri's scooter. But she was happy with his Spiderman.

It is the cutest thing to watch her run. ONE arm swings back and forth as she runs. Look at that smile.

The finish line.

Afterward we had a nice picnic (of course, we're Lombardi's) and Cameo handed out darling certificates to them They were so proud. Evan wanted his hung on the fridge. Thank you Cameo and Jeremy and Cassie for planning it.

One Month!!!

Miles hit his one-month mark on Friday. I've really enjoyed him. He is awake a lot more than he was and we are still trying to get him on a good schedule, but we're getting there. He only wakes up once at night. We are getting some sleep, but definitely wishing for more. I'm trying to just enjoy this time though and not wish it away (it's REALLY hard some nights and then the next morning). The other kids absolutely adore him and are so good with him. He really has been a joy this past month.

Great-Grandpa came to visit and see his newest great-grandchild.

We caught one of his baby smiles on camera. Oh sooooooo cute!!!

Today was our first day back at church - YAY! I bought this shirt months ago in anticipation for his grand entrance at church. I must say it was well worth the wait. He was absolutely adorable in it.

Tuesday was Sara's last day of 1st grade. She had to miss it because she was home with what turned out to be strep throat. This is her 3rd case of strep this year. She was a little bummed she had to miss her last day. Can you believe I have a 2nd grader? I can't.

1st day of school this year

last day of school
Notice her teeth? She lost 3 this year - 2 in the last week. Two of them had to be pulled by the dentist because her adult teeth were growing in behind them and the baby teeth weren't even loose yet. The other one she pulled out by herself at school. She was so proud.
