October 2013 - Art-zooka

My kids love Art-zooka - a show where some guy makes "art" out of random things. It's actually pretty cool.  After one episode Miles and Kamri were busy for a good half hour finding things around the house to make their art projects.  Here's what they came up with...

They really were so proud of their creations.

October 2013 - school

Here are some of our recent school activities.  

We spent a couple weeks learning about Christopher Columbus.  We made a timeline for his life.

And one of the activities was making a salt dough map of Italy - where he was born.  The kids thought this was so fun and loved the painting part too.

Don't Eat Pete....

Here Kamri and Miles are practicing their additions and letter sounds with a game of Don't Eat Pete.  They had a blast!!

Ben had them measure the yard and then they each counted how many steps it took them to walk across and kept that number a secret.  Their foot was then measured and they each took those measurements they had from the others and figured out the secret number a.k.a. how many steps it took to walk across.  They were so excited when they figured out how to figure out the number.

October 2013 - Gold Medal Winner!

Sara got the gold medal at a piano competition.  She's received 3rd place for the past two years so she was really excited to finally get the Gold!!

October 2013 - Sorting

We got these animal sorters and Miles loved them!  I gave them to him and just told them to play with them.  He was sorting by colors then by animals and just kept doing his thing.  The other kids even went outside to play and he chose to stay in and play with his animals.  He kept talking to himself and telling himself what he was doing and how he was sorting them.  It was soooo cute!

October 2013 - Sick baby!!

It's so sad when my kids are sick, but I also enjoy the cuddles I get when they are. I guess Asia wasn't feeling well one day while she was watching the kids play.  It was sad to see, but I sure did enjoy laying with her.

October 2013 - Mad Libs

Mad Libs has become one of our favorite grammar activities.  It's easy to fit in while driving in the car or anytime really.  We usually take turns writing down the answers in the blanks while the others are giving us the answers.  This is one that Miles did and he was so proud of his work. He is really good at nouns. If you ask someone to give a noun, he'll jump in and say..."Person, place, thing or idea."  It's a great family activity.

October 2013 - Air Assault

Ben and Evan did a 14-week challenge together to increase their jump.  It was so fun to see them work together on this.  It involved early mornings - mostly Evan coming in to wake Ben up so they could get it done before work - and lots of time together.  It was tough, but fun for them.  Needless to say, they were pretty excited for it to be over though.
