Animal petting zoo

A couple weeks ago we headed to the library for a free petting zoo they were sponsoring.  When I say small, I mean small.  There were maybe five animals together in one small pen.  They only let a few kids in at a time.  I'm so glad we got there when we did because the line got long behind us and I don't know if I would have let the kids stay if we had to wait any longer than we did.  But the kids loved to get to pet them and had fun.

Afterward we headed inside to sign up for the summer reading program the kids always love to do.

End of school, start of summer...

The last day of school was the school talent show.  Both Sara and Evan tried out for it and made it.

We waited for them to get home from school to have our "Welcome to Summer" party.  We made a sign for them to run through.....

and hung some streamers and had some pizza for lunch.

(I was trying to get excited about summer)

9 Months old!!

...and still a complete joy.  She is a special spirit.  She makes everyone happy just by looking at her - even those she's never met before.  She has a smile for everyone.  She can get anywhere and everywhere she wants and puts EVERYTHING into her mouth.

Memorial Day

For Memorial Day we went to the batting cages.  We all took turns.  It was kind of fun.  I haven't swung a bat in a looooooooooooooooong time.  Ben wants to find a baseball team for Evan to play on.  One that actually counts outs and points and teaches them to do something other than just swing, smile, and run around the bases no matter what.  We don't like that they don't expect anything from the kids.  Anyone know of a place?

A few days later we drove by the batting cages.  Miles said, "I didn't do it.  I too small batting cages,"  He got in the cage and we helped him swing the bat a couple times.

How I wish I were a big kid!!

She wishes she was a big kid.  Asia crawls over to the door to watch the kids playing outside, just longing to be out there I'm sure. She loves it when she gets to go out.

I don't know what it is about her, but the instant you look at her a smile comes to your face.

Book of Mormon goal met...

We finished the books of Jarom, Omni, and Words of Mormon so we had our little "party" to celebrate that milestone met.  (We did read Enos.  The incentive for that was a late night - he prayed all night - but since somehow every day  around here tends to be a late night we skipped that one). This one was a bit of a stretch.  Since these three books are the bridge between the books before and the books after we went to the bridges/arches ( a.k.a. McDonald's)  and got some ice cream and played in the McPlayplace.  The kids now ask every day if we can go back and play.

When we finish Mosiah (in about 6 months probably:)  ) we're going to do a family service project.  I want to make it a special one.  If anyone has any ideas send them my way.
