Temple Square

For Family Home Evening last Monday we met our friends Scott and Elisa and their kids at Temple Square for the traditional sighting of the Christmas lights on Temple Square. The temperature was surprisingly not too cold so we were able to enjoy it. Afterward we came to our house for hot chocolate and donuts. Thanks guys for coming over.

Our family

Kamri looked so cute bundled up in her coat

Ben doesn't remember seeing this manger scene

News!!

For those of you who don't see me often and for those of who do and have been wondering (or not wondering), I am pregnant!! I am due May 20. We found out Monday (the 22nd) that we are having another boy. That keeps our pattern going (girl, boy, girl, boy) and will make the grandkids on my side even - 7 boys, 7 girls. Now for the hard part - picking a name.
These are pictures of some of the pictures of the ultrasound. They didn't give us a CD with them on it, so this is the best I could do.

Looks just like our other kids

Cute little feet

He was very active during the ultrasound.

The tech got this cute picture of him pointing his finger.

Yep - it's a boy!!

This weeks decorating project

One of the girls I work with in Young Women's got married this weekend and she had me do her cake. Here it is...

This is what I did - before the florist put the flowers on it.

(For those of you who are interested, it is iced smooth in buttercream and just had some burgundy ribbon around it)

And this is the finished product - after the florist got to it. I think it is beautiful.
It's a good thing it was so cold outside this week. When I do a wedding cake they take up my whole fridge. So we had to use the outside as our refrigerator. We put what we could in a cooler and put it outside and we used our shed for our milk and stuff. Let me tell you. My milk has never been so cold or so good.

Christmas Sunday

The Sunday before Christmas is always fun for me. I get my kids all dolled up for church. I actually got some cute (cheesy, but cute) smiles from all three.
She doesn't really do her cute puckered lips when you say "smile"
I made these cute barrettes for the girls' hair.

Evan's basketball...

I posted pictures last week about Evan's basketball game. But, we consider this week's game his 1st game because he actually played - without crying and had so much fun doing it. He did really well and I was soooooo HAPPY to see him out there. Yes, I am a proud mama.
My little defender. Look at those arms up.
He's even got the stance down - kind of.
Going after the ball
dribbling down court
Right after he shot the ball. He got real close a couple times.
He was the designated "inbounder". This was my job in high school. Like mother, like son.
During half time the team gathered. I didn't hear the conversation, but here is Evan yelling to his coach (aka Uncle Ty) "You are Heavenly Father's kid!" I would have liked to have heard the beginning of this conversation.

She's getting the hang of it

Sara's first grade had a Christmas program last night. Sara had a speaking part in it. She's been reciting it to me at home for weeks now, but we were still a little nervous that she would be too frightened to say it in front of everyone. SHE DID IT!! We are so proud of her! Anyone who knows her knows it had taken her years - literally - to be comfortable doing anything in front of anyone (even her grandparents and aunts and uncles) without crying or succumbing to her stage fright. She actually did her part in the primary program this year, too. We love to watch her at home so we are so excited that she has conquered her fear - finally - and that others have been able to watch her, too.

Here she is

Here she is with her cute graham cracker house they made at school. She is so proud of it.

Winter Wonderland...could be

For the last few days this is what it has looked like out our front door. Very pretty - yes. But very cold and not so fun to drive in. I will be the first to admit I am not one that looks forward to snow - at all. This week would be no exception. If I could just stay inside an be warm I guess it wouldn't be so bad. But when I have places I need to go and places I want to go I dread the snow...

But nothing fixes that like a cup of hot cocoa. YUM!!

I need room in our freezer this week so Ben through our ice and popsicles out in the snow. They have been there for 2 days and are still frozen solid. SO COLD!!!!!
