Kamri's last first day of Pre-school

September 6, 2011
(acutally taken September 8, 2011)

Kamri's official first day of school this year was September 6 but she woke up with a horrible, hacking cough and hoarse voice so she didn't get to go.   She ended up going Wednesday, Sep 7, but I was still in the hospital so I didn't get a picture of it.  So, this is actually her 2nd day of school.

She loves school and was so excited to go back to Miss Anna and her friends.

Going home

September 7, 2011

We got to bring her home on Wednesday morning.  Now real life was going to begin and I was nervous.  Five kids - what was I thinking?

September 5, 2011 - Labor Day
8 lbs. 4 oz.
19 1/2 in.

It's a little late in coming.  Our computer was out for about a month and I couldn't upload any of my pictures to the computer and I've just been trying to enjoy this little girl before she gets too big.

This was my longest pregnancy ever.  I've never gotten so close to my due date (4 days early) so the last few weeks seemed like an eternity.

We woke up that morning and decided to take the kids to a nearby park that has a road that goes all the way around for a little exercise/walk.  We walked around once (almost 1.5 miles) and then spent an hour or so playing on the playground and at the river.  I was feeling a bit tired, but nothing out of the ordinary.  Afterward we went to my grandpa's house and spent a little time there and getting his sheets to bring home and wash for him.

We got home about 11:30 or 12:00 and got the kids some lunch and put them down for naps.  I thought maybe I was feeling something going on but I couldn't be sure.  They weren't really strong or long and kind of just felt like normal pregnancy pains.  At 1:30 we were laying down to get a little nap in while the kids were sleeping and I told Ben I thought maybe I was in labor.  They were about 20 minutes apart and only lasted for 20-30 seconds.  I left him to sleep and went to the kitchen to make some pudding.  Around 2:00 Ben came out to the living room and asked what I was doing to which I replied, "Eating pudding."   He got up and went out to fix Sara's bike tire and get some things done.

At 2:30 or so I called my mom and dad (who were in a movie but for the last two weeks they've jumped at any phone call from me) to put them on "notice" that I might be having the baby today.  My mom told me I should call the hospital and explain to them what was going on and how fast (2 hours start to finish) my last one, Miles, had come.  I did and the hospital told me there was no harm in coming in and getting checked and  couldn't see a reason why I should wait. I felt funny going in when the labor pains really weren't that bad yet.  My water hadn't broken yet eother so I was sure I wasn't ready yet.  I didn't want to be one of those women who goes to the hospital and has to be turned away because they're not ready.  But, I decided to play it safe and go anyway.  My sister Misti came over about 3:00 pm to watch the kids until my dad could get there.  I got the hospital at 3:15, they took me to a room and checked me.  I was at 5 cm and they told me I would be staying.  They started taking my info and asked me on a scale from 1 to 10 what my pain level was (I hate that question).  I said 5, but probably could have said lower.  But, if I had known it would take them so long to even call the anesthesiologist for the epidural I would have said 8 or 9.  It didn't take long for the contractions to get really painful.  A half hour later I was crying during every contraction.  My mom, being a mom worried about her child, went out and told the nurses I needed the epidural NOW.  They came in and checked me again and I was only at 7 cm.  With Miles I got the hospital already at an 8 and remember thinking "I should have hurt more than that to get to an 8".  I'd never cried during contractions before.  These either hurt a lot more than my normal or I was just so emotionally drained from the whole 9 months that I just couldn't hold it in anymore.

Anyway, by the time the anesthesiologist got there I was sooooo ready to feel NOTHING.  It seemed like it took him FOREVER to get it in me - and that is not the most comfortable position to be in when it feels like your stomach is being crushed in a vice.  My doctor got there while I was getting the epidural and when he came into the room to check on me I was already a 10 and ready to burst.  He broke my water for me and it quite literally burst.  They got me all set up and had me start pushing.  Three hard pushes and one minute later I heard her cry.  She was beautiful and looked exactly like her older sisters - beautiful strawberry blonde hair and all.  We still didn't have a sure name for her but Ben told me to do whatever I wanted.
Asia it was!!

In addition to Ben, my mom and two of my sisters, Trina and Misti, were present for the birth.  Neither one of them has kids yet and the doctor said I did them a disservice because they're going to think it's always that easy.  When I had Sara, Ben, my mom, and three of my sisters were there along with one of their friends who was staying with my parents at the time.

I am so in love with her!!

Heres's the run down of my past labors for my information:

Sara - spent all night in labor from about 6 pm, got to the hospital at 8:30 am and she was born at 1:15 in the afternoon.  Pretty long labor but still only 3 pushes and 3 weeks early

Evan - woke up at 2:30 am with first contractions.  Born at 7:30 am.  5 hours start to finish, a couple pushes and 11 days early

Kamri - woke up at 1:00 am with contractions.  Water broke at 1:10ish.  Born at 5:30 am.  4 1/2 hours start to finish, 0 pushes (she slid out before the doctor could get there), and 11 days early.

Miles - contractions started about 12:30 pm.  Water broke at 1:00.  Born at 2:30.  2 hours start to finish, couple pushes, and 8 days early.

Asia - started about 1:30.  Born at 5:30. 4 hours start to finish, 3 pushes, and 4 days early.

Millcreek

Friday, Sep 2, we took a short ride up the canyons for some good old campfire fun.  We roasted hot dogs for the kids and Ben (I had a sandwich). We didn't roast marshmallows this time since I had just made indoor smores the day before.  The kids love being outdoors and we love being able to let them run around and just be kids.  It was a  great night.
