We got some family pictures taken last night. We tried something different this time. We went to a local studio that does more than just the cheesy backgrounds and traditional poses. I figured we would try this and see how it goes and change it up for next time if we needed to. I was pleasantly surprised and loved the pictures we got.
There were some pros and some cons, but I think it was a good experience. It is nice to have a photographer who is going to spend as much time as needed to get every shot you want and will spend up to 2 hours with you until you get it- which is too long for the kids and my husband. But it was also nice to have a photographer who still had ample time (45 minutes) to get shots of everyone but not too much to give you a bazillion shots to chose from. It helps that my kids are really easy to photograph and very cooperative. Last time we got family pictures taken the photographer spent so much time with us, which, don't get me wrong, was totally awesome, but we got so many great pictures it took me a year to decide which ones I wanted to use. Yes, this is completely my fault, but I've learned that for me it's better to have fewer choices than too many. If I were to admit what one of my biggest faults is it is my inability to make a decision. So the fewer choices to make the better. We still got great shots, just not too many but still plenty to get what I need.
I also refuse to pay for a photographer only to have to then pay a huge amount to get the rights for the pictures or to get any prints. They are pictures of me and my family I should be able to do what I want with them whenever I want. I'm paying for the SERVICE of the photographer not for the actual prints. I know this is my opinion and some don't agree, but that's why we chose this place as well. For one price we got the session and the rights to the images to do whatever we want. I loved that.
So all in all it was an excellent experience and next time I think we will use them again but go with the outdoor option to change it up.
Enough of my ramblings....let's get on with the good stuff...the pictures...
