Summer means fruit and veggies season. Fruit and veggies season means all your neighbors trying to get rid of their abundant harvest. A lady in our ward has a huge pear tree. So, for the second year in a row Ben and the kids (and Kamri and me this year) have gone to help pick pears from her tree. We have also come home with a nice load. Although the kids have fun picking the pears, they have even more fun eating them. They love them!!
This year we took a sheet to catch the pears as they fell from the tree when Ben shook it. It sounds like a brilliant idea, but when you get knocked in the head with a pear that is not so ripe you tend to change your mind. My poor nephew Ethan got knocked in the head with one and then hit on the wrist with a falling bucket. Good thing he's a tough little kid.
