In the past 6 weeks, Sara has had 6 piano performances. It's been a month and a half of piano, but she's still enjoying it so it's been good. She's had two recitals with her teacher. Also, she had...
a federation performance. She played a concerto in front of two judges and was rated on her performance. She got the highest "rating" with a superior. This was her first federation and I think she was a little nervous, but she did great and now has one under her belt.
holding her music and her "SUPERIOR" certificate
A few weeks ago she had a performance evaluation where she played a different song in front of judges who wrote up a critique. There were 64 students performing that day and they were choosing about 20% of them to go on to perform at an Honors recital at the UMTA annual conference with others from around the state. She was chosen - she was one of the 15!! She was pretty excited. I was out of town for the actual honors recital performance, but my sister and parents were able to take her.
After she performed she said she had some teachers come up to her and tell her she did a great job. One asked her how old she was. When she said she was eight, the teacher said, "Wow! I usually give that to my students when they're in 6th grade." I'm sad I missed it, but I had a good excuse (I'll explain later.)
They split the kids up into two different recitals. Here she is with the group of students for her recital. She looks so small!! Way to go Sara.
